Welcome to PIDPR 2012 International Competition Blog!

What is the 2012 PIDPR Competition?
Students and professionals world-wide are invited to participate in the PIDPR International Competition. PIDPR (Public Interest Design Practices and Research) aims to expand the discipline of architecture by challenging the traditional definition and boundaries of the architectural profession, and by exploring alternative design practices. [gD]³ (Good Deeds Good Design Group in Detroit) at Lawrence Technological University Detroit Studio (ltu-DS) investigates the goals, theories, principles, methods, and values of PIDPR. Through the application of public interest design practice, collaboration with local stakeholders and digital networking to engage a worldwide audience, [gD]³ proposes an alternative practice model to fully articulate public interest design and research. [gD]³, through the PIDPR Competition, is seeking design projects that explore new and innovative ways of practicing architecture to empower and assist disadvantaged groups around the world. A distinguished group of experts in the field of PIDPR will judge the competition. The registration deadline is October 21, 2012. The final submission deadline is November 19, 2012.  An accompanying symposium is scheduled for November 28, 2012. Why Blog?
Throughout the competition, all contestants are required to post a minimum of three times on our blog. The purpose of this is for all applicants to have a dialogue with a worldwide audience about their works-in-progress to get feedback from others, and also about PIDPR in general.

Please post your updates on your submitted draft proposals on our blog by October 28, November 4 and November 11. We do hope you can get feedback from other contestants, PIDPR enthusiasts and the public!

Thank you for your participation!
